God Bless the Person Who Invented...

Magic Erasers!!!!  Michael Jr is getting very into coloring these days. He looks like a little Picasso as he firmly presses that crayon across the page. He will throw down the crayon, sit back study his work, then quickly grab another crayon and start cranking that one across the page in a different direction. He is very serious when he does this. It's like watching a mad scientist in some ways!
He was coloring in his WonderPets coloring book in the kitchen today while I made lunch. He was right under my feet and everything. BUT-- this is what I saw when I looked down:
BLUE CRAYON ALL OVER MY TILE FLOOR!!!
Thankfully, I had some Magic Erasers and they took it right off the tile, and even off the grout.
Michael is definitely every bit of 2 years old. I had a hard time not laughing because he was really so proud of himself and the wonderful artwork he had done on the floor!

Fabulous Family Time

We had such a wonderful weekend full of much needed family time! Friday afternoon started us off with our friend, Christopher's birthday party. It was at the My Gym. Deuce has never been to a place like this and he LOVED it. He had so much fun running around, bouncing on the trampoline, and acting wild! Of course, his favorite was when they played party music really loud and he got to shake his little booty!
Saturday was another full family day! We had another birthday party! This time it was for our friend Cash who also turned 2! Daddy got to come along to this one, and I am glad he did! It was at a bounce house. Michael is not too terribly keen on bounce houses. He would rather pretend he is playing the arcade games!
After Cash's party, we went to over to have a cookout with some friends, The Shams and The Cunninghams. Michael jr loves to play at the Shams b/c they have so many cook toys. Michael Sr loves to play at the Shams b/c Nick has so many big boy toys!  Here is a picture of Payton with Michael! For some reason, she loves him! It is so funny, maybe its the red hair thing, who knows?
Michael jr loves to play with his buddy Jesse! These 2 are quite a pair! They were both trying to climb the gate to go to the playroom upstairs but they ended up kind of wrestling. It was so cute!
It was quite a fun evening! The women go to do what we do- watch the kiddos play! And the men got to do what they do-- talk about guns, hunting, sports, and all that other gross men stuff. By 8 pm, the kids were exhausted and it was time to head home for bedtime.

Sunday mornings are usually no different than Saturdays for us. Michael is usually on his bike by 7am and I usually get Michael jr up and head to kickboxing. We both decided to take it easy.  I took a nice quick run around the neighborhood. (Exercise is like my morning coffee, I just can't start my day right without it). Michael stayed home and got the baby up and we went out for a nice family breakfast at the new Cheesecake Factory in Allen.

It was SOOOO nice to be able to spend so much time with my husband and my kiddo this weekend. We all needed it. I am so lucky to have a husband who enjoys kids! Its so funny to watch him around my friends kids. They just all flock to him and want to take him around everywhere. He is such a good daddy and hubby!

Apparently Michael Jr. loves a little too much

Today started out like any other day. Michael watched a little "Melmo" (Sesame Street) while he ate his eggs and then we went to the gym, like always. He LOVES going to the gym almost as much as I do. He gets to play with his best bud, Jesse, and the workers in the daycare there just adore him. They have known him since he was tiny!
I was in Pilates and one of the girls came to get me about 15 mins into the class. I figured it was a dirty diaper. She looked at me and said "I need you to come with me." She took me down to the day care to show me that Michael had done something terrible! He pinched a baby girl on her cheek and bit her over her eyebrow. I was mortified. They told me he had to be removed from the Kid's Club immediately for the day and they even wrote him up on his personal file. I wanted to die! I could not believe my child, who is SOOO sweet and affectionate had done this to another child, especially one who is smaller than him.
This does not excuse his behavior, but lately he has been getting SOO excited with his affection. He will just be so happy to see somebody that he will squeeze them. You can see his little body shake with excitement as he does it with a big grin. Not an ounce of aggression. The workers told me this was also the case today. They said he got really excited to love this girl and hug her so he just squeezed her instead. Apparently he tries to get his hands on all the babies because he loves them so much!
I was mortified and felt about an inch tall and we walked out of the gym with our tails between our legs. I felt so sorry for this little girl and if I were here momma I would be pretty upset too. I just sat in the car and cried. Finally, I was able to talk to Michael Sr. and he talked me through it. Such a good, patient, daddy he is. I am sure he probably feels like he has 2 kids to put up with sometimes!
Things are all better now in the Caney house. Deuce can go back to the gym tomorrow and give it another try. We will see how that goes.

'Tis the sad end of wedding season

We finished off our Summer 'O Weddings this weekend! Michael's mother, Debbie, got married.  It was a very nice, low key, relaxed wedding. Decor was beautiful and the food was great. To top it off, Michael Jr got to be the Ringbearer! He was quite a scene in his little ivory tux that coordinated with flowergirl Riley's dress.
Even though I have joked about it being tasking, I really do LOVE going to weddings. I love the part where the bride enters and groom has that look on his face! I get a little teary at every single one! It
me think about our day and how special that was.

Mr. Caney is soooo sweet!

Our summer has been SO crazy. Counting my mother in law's wedding today, we have had 5 total, 2 of which I was a part of. Since April, our weekends have been filled with showers, bachelorette/bachelor parties, weddings, and toddler birthday parties!
Michael and I have gotten to spend a lot of time without the baby attending all of these events, but we haven't gotten barely any one on one couple time. We both believe that this is one of the key components to a happy marriage. We love spending time with Deuce, but we need 'our' time too!
So we finally had a Friday night free. I called our sweet babysitter, Lauren (Deuce calls her Lola!), and we planned to get away for a quick, late dinner. Nothing special, just a little time away. Friday afternoon rolls around and my sweet husband has called and made reservations at a fabulous place called Trulucks! I was happy just to be getting away and was expecting nothing fancier than some simple mexican food.
This place was wonderful! We had some great wine, wonderful fish, but more importantly- great company and time alone. We finished off our date with a quick trip to Target. I honestly can't tell you the last time that we went to Target alone! Scurrying around the aisles laughing while they were making the closing announcement on the PA system was hilarious!
It was a wonderful evening and just another reminder to why I married my sweet guy. He truly is my best friend!

Deuce is Deuce

It's hard to believe that Michael jr is already 2 years old! He has grown up so fast and we fall more in love with him every day. HIs new thing is saying "Love you, too" as we tuck him in at night. He says without any prompting at all! That gets me every time.

We have had a summer full of weddings and so we had to wait for a week to celebrate his birthday. We did, however, get to attend a wedding on his actual birthday. Kids were invited, so we bought him along. He had the time of his life dancing and jumping with the bride and all the kids at the wedding. I swear he danced about 2 hours straight. Wonder where he gets that from?

We just had his actual party this past weekend. We celebrated on Saturday by having friends over. The kids played in the pool outside and the adults were able to enjoy each other's company. Because of Deuce's love of tractors, we went with a John Deere theme so everything was green and yellow.

On Sunday we celebrated with family at Gatti Town. I think Mikey was worn out from all the fun he had on Saturday because he didn't even want to partake in the pizza! He perked up though when it was time to ride the rides!

It was a busy, yet fun filled weekend. It's hard to believe that 2 yrs ago we had just brought our little man home from the hospital and were figuring out how to change diapers!

Caney = Awesome

So in starting this blog, I just wanted to let everyone in our Caney family motto:
You can't hide AWESOME!

We OFFICIALLY have a blog!

I have been saying that we need to do this for awhile.  With Facebook and MySpace to contact all our friends, I guess I never saw the need for one.
I do think now, with everything that is going on in our crazy lives, that we would like to have a place to share it all with our loved ones.
Michael and I are at a great place in our life. We have been made it 3 years now! Michael jr is AMAZING. He keeps us entertained daily.
I am looking forward to sharing all our awesome Caney moments with you!
